Aussie Millions

January 21, 2008

It's pronounced Ozzie and Mel-bun, that is the first things you learn when you arrive at the Crown. The other is how beautiful a property it is. This is my third year down under at the Aussie Millions and I am more impressed every time I am there. They take such good care of the players and their guests and the people are the friendliest in the world in my opinion.
Jayne McKenzie is head of marketing there and when she is not taking care of Ivey she it usually on the phone or running around making sure that the players have everything they need from tennis tickets, nice rooms, and dinner reservations. Luckily for Jayne she has a full professional staff to help her.

Happy New Year from Savage Tournaments

January 01, 2008

A busy New Year's weekend started with a ladies night out courtesy of David Williams and Phil Ivey. They were nice enough to provide great seats to my wife and daughter to the Beyonce concert. I was the chauffeur and ended up playing some poker at Mandalay Bay while waiting. I actually tried to get in to the concert but it was apparently a tougher ticket than I thought. Erik Seidel and I were actually out in lobby looking for scalpers with good seats and none were available. We were both "good guys" and gave the great seats to our daughters :-).

Maryann and I spent New Year's Eve at the new One Queensridge Place with Todd and Anjela Brunson, Marco and Jennifer Traniello, Daniel Negreanu, Hoyt Corkins, Eli Elezra and his wife, and Mark and Mary Gregorich. One Queensridge Place are new high rise condos in Summerlin that are just beautiful. Marco and Todd have purchased condos there and they gave us a tour of the entire property. They also toured the late Chip Reese's condo that he had purchased before his unfortunate death last month. Dinner was good and the company was great. Conversations included Chip, Player of the Year point systems, upcoming travel schedules, and of course poker hands. We watched the strip fireworks at midnight from Todd's balcony but needed the countdown from an Iphone because Todd's condo is not yet furnished.

My next report will be from Melbourne, Australia and the Aussie Millions where I will be working with Full Tilt Poker, Fox Sports Net, and Crown Casino in an event I consider to be one of the top 5 of the year.

Savage Tournaments would like to wish everyone a Happy, Safe, and Prosperous New Year in 2008.
