Aruba Poker Classic
October 07, 2007
Savage Tournaments was invited to run for the 6th Annual Aruba Poker Classic. I say invited instead of hired because although there was a lot of work to be done it turns out that we were invited to a great poker party. I was amazed by the turn out as there were 548 players in the 5K main Event. Sit and Go's, Satellites, and the $500 and $1,000 tournaments were all part of Savage Tournaments responsibility.
I feel that this is the best tournament staff ever assembled. Dave Lamb, Sam Quinto, Lesley Buchanan, Eldon Brown, Steve Numoto, and
Maryann all did a great job as tournament staff and the dealers were top notch! I think I had to make two rulings all week. From the UB side of things Melissa Gaddis and Joanne Priam made my life easy and we were lucky to have them.
The tournament featured 6 handed tables when we reached 36 players and the action was very exciting. The Final Table was held outside by the beach. It was hot but it was not unbearable until the sun went down and the flies, mosquitoes, and beetles started swarming in. There was even a crab on the TV stage but I told the players that you have to brave all the elements if you want to win a major tournament.
The winner was 25 year old Travis Rice who seems like a real pro for his age and I am told he is already an internet legend. I personally want to thank all of the players that I met and gave all of our staff and dealers compliments because it always feels great to have such a smoothly run event.

12th Annual Savage Invitational
October 01, 2007
My 12th Annual Savage Invitational Golf Tournament took place on the Hawaiian Islands. This tournament benefits Big Brothers/ Big Sisters. For the first time we took a cruise and played golf on 3 different islands. The tournament is part vacation and part work as anyone who has put together a golf tournament can tell you there is a lot of planning, collecting, dealing with handicap issues. The golf courses were great and I will have to wait another year to win a trophy.
Individual day winners were
Terence Choy (Makena South)
Jack Fox (Mauna Lani)
Jeff Stoff (Poipu Bay)
The 3 day total Championship honors went to Steve Numoto.
I am already looking forward to the 13th Annual Savage Invitational which will be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina next September.
