Phil Ivey was relentless! He dominated the final table and made it look easy. I was most fortunate to meet some new friends here as well the other gents that made the final table were all class acts Paul Jackson, Richard Herbert, and Mark Goodwin were all class acts.

After Ivey won a big group went to a local night spot called the living room and had some fun. More later, have to go prepare for the FSN Live show tonight.

Monte Carlo Gold- 2nd Chance Tourney

November 19, 2005

In Meetings all day yesterday with Fox Sports Net and Prima's marketing and PR people. FSN did not want to cover the "Consolation" event as they felt a tournament with a $100,000 first prize was not "Sexy" enough. So the idea was born that the winner of the consolation event would win a seat at the main event final table. I consulted with pros Phil Hellmuth Jr., Erik Seidel, Phil Laak, Ted Forrest, and Harry Demitriou. I also talked to some of the amatuer players for their opinions, my partner Dave Lamb, and my friend in Gibralter RZITUP.

Everyone liked the idea but there is a problem how many chips do you start the player going back into the final table with? Some said average chips, some said the short stack, and some said that there needed to be some kind of formula. I felt that the player needed to be short stacked but still have a chance to come back. What I came up with was that the player that comes back will start with 10 times the big blind amount. This will guarantee that the player will be both short stacked and have a chance to double up and be right back in the tournament.

Live From Monte Carlo!

November 18, 2005

Maryann and I arrived in Monte Carlo yesterday and I have to say that the second time around will be a bit different than the first. Last year during this tournament I was getting married at the tail end of the tournament. Also this year we will get to witness the coronation of the new prince on Saturday.

This years event has been elevated to the largest event in European history with a $3,000,000 prize pool and a Million dollar top prize.

A few of the players in attendance

Howard Lederer
Gus Hansen
Phil Ivey
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly
John Juanda
Mike Matusow
Devilfish
Antonio Esfandiari
Alan Ghoering
and many others

I will be posting live updates from the main event
