Back to San Jose and Bay 101
April 09, 2005
My partner back at my REAL job is Sam Quinto who is one of the best unknown tournament directors in the world. I like to think he had a good teacher :-), but he is not only organized but has the most important quality in a Tournament Director IMO........ Integrity. Sam helped me out by covering the first part of our weekly Bay 101 tournament which happens every Saturday, a $120 buy-in Spread limit tournament with $60 rebuy which pays 18 spots and has a 1st place of about $10,000. After the tournament I called my local "ticket agent" to get some tickets for the U2 concert at the San Jose Arena. It is funny how easy it is to get tickets to a sold out concert. My wife Maryann (not a fan of U2) complained a bit about the price of the SOLD OUT concert tickets but we had a great time and she was happiest about the pre-concert meal of ribs at the local joint called Henry's Hi-Life. U2 has not lost a step over the years and if you are into that kind of music it is a must see.
Morning at Horseshoe and then to the OC
April 08, 2005
Was only able to stop by the Horseshoe in the morning and then headed to the airport with Maryann with a flight to Orange County for an evening event called Broker Poker that featured about 400 brokers in a Poker Tournament/ Casino Night setting. Dave Lamb and I worked the event and enjoyed the exitement the players had about playing in a real poker tournament. Dealers were below average and the players did not seem to mind a bit as it was a lot of fun and the hosts of the event went all out. The tournament was held in the Marconi Automobile Museum which is great if you ever get the chance, check it out. Back to the embassy suites at around 2am and a nap before our 6am wake up call and off to another airport.

The players are having a great time and only a couple of complaints that there are too many people and they are not receiving individual attention they desire but they are few and far between as 90% of the comments are positive. In attendance for the poker playing stars Howard, Annie, Ferguson, Phil Gordon, Layne Flack, Clonie Gowan, Andy Bloch, Erik Seidel, Penn Gillete, and others.
